Capitanía Del Puerto

The Muellero park arose with the aim of promoting employment, tourist activity and the urban-landscape beautification of the City of Puntarenas. The architectural space has a peculiar design that extends along 800 meters in front of the sea, between the Marine Park of the Pacific and the Puntarenas Tourist Pier on the Paseo de los Turistas.

"This project of a tourist nature seeks to beautify the seafront of the City of Puntarenas, in order to stimulate and reactivate economic activity in that area and offer national and cruise tourists more areas for recreation and stay," said the president Executive of the Costa Rican Institute of Pacific Ports (INCOP), Juan Ramón Rivera.

The design of this work is inspired by the Palmeral de las Sorpresas de la Ciudad de Málaga, and considers elements of the sea such as marine animals, waves and palm trees. In addition, it has a system of pergolas that simulate the skeleton of whales, two internal areas dedicated to the Virgen del Mar and the sculpture of the Puntarenense Muellero, it also has an amphitheater to enjoy the sea and the sunset.

The project has green areas, solid waste stations, parking for vehicles, a bus stop, two crescents with ocean views and access ramps to the beach for people with disabilities.

As Rivera explained, the park has a lighting system that can be used to hold events in the Park. This system has technology to adapt to the theme of the event and illuminate in colors.
